Processor and Memory

Acer Aspire 5551 has the  AMD Athlon ii P320 dual core processor which  has a core  frequency of  2.1 Ghz.  It is the same processor that powers Compaq CQ62-225,   Dell Inspiron 15R.  It has 1MB of L2 cache spread between two 512KB each. Its  performance is on par with  similarly clocked core Intel Pentium processor.

The integrated memory controller in the AMD Athlon speeds up the processor to memory speed resulting in speedy performance. This also makes up for the missing L3 cache in the P320 processor.

The  Acer Aspire 5551 is  equipped with is 3GB.  The 3GB of memory is sufficient for most purposes – however you may  upgrade it all way to 8GB, just in case if you wish.

Acer Aspire AS5551 had  15.6” screen, with  resolution of 1366*768.  The  chipset in the Aspire 5551 is AMD M880G which  also has ATI Radeon Hd graphics 4250. The  ATI Radeon 4250 graphics  supports HD content and the  Unified Video decorder.  You can watch the 1080p HD movies with this notebook.  The Acer Aspire 5551 does contain the HDMI connector.

The Hard disk in  Acer Aspire 5551 is 320GB  with 5400rpm speed. The operating system is  Window’s 7 home premium. This is similar in line with all the newly launched notebooks.

The Aspire 5551 comes with wired and wireless connection. The wireless option is  supprts 802.11 b/g/n protocol. It also has DVD burner,  5-in-1 media card reader and 3 USB 2.0 port, 1.3 megapixel webcam. It is a pleasant experience workinh with the  keyboard and dedicated numeric keypad.

Battery life of Acer 5551  disappoints as it gives out only 3 hours of battery life – especially when the recent trend has been to design longer battery life notebooks.  On the plus side  Aspire has HDMI, the webcam and  a decent AMD processor.
