If you are in LA this weekend, you have the chance to see the BMW Vision EfficientDynamics Concept. The concept is the best mix between performance and state of the art hybrid technology.

Powered by a three-cylinder turbodiesel engine and one electric motor on each axle, the futuristic coupe manages to output a massive 262 kW (356 hp) and 800 Nm (590 lb-ft) of torque, which helps it pelt from naught to 62mph (100km/h) in nothing less than 4.8 seconds.

Average fuel consumption is 62.6 mpg or 3.76 liters/100 km in European figures. The fuel economy translates to CO2 emissions of 99 grams per kilometer; getting below 100 is the holy grail by EU standards.

For the moment there are no information if this car will ever make it to the production line, but we’re definitely in line for a test drive if anyone from BMW cares!
