Buffalo follows the successful realease of their first USB 3.0 external HDD, HD-HU3 by yet another release. The first USB 3.0 external Blu-Ray burner is being released in Japan featuring 12X write speed and a USB 3.0 connection.
The burner can be used with old USB 2.0 ports because it does not require a controller card. However, there will e a trade-off with speed and it will hit down to 7X. It can also be used as a Blu-Ray player since it includes playback features and can also upscale the video.
It will be available with a full combination of CyberLink DVD software including PowerDVD9, PowerDirector, and PowerProducer. The device becomes handy when you need to burn a blu-ray disc. However, the price tag of $448 may discourage the buyers.
