A new series of external hard drives, DriveStation HD-HXU3 has been introduced by the Buffalo Technology. The new device features USB 3.0 interfaces. Compared to older versions of the device, USB 3.0 is claimed to transfer at a high speed of up to 625 MB/sec. However, connecting the device using the existing USB standard will drop the transfer speed to 480MB/sec.

To facilitate the existing users and allow them to take advantage of higher transfer speeds, the company has also released a component called the IFC-PCIE2U3. It is a two-port USB 3.0 PCI Express interface card which will allow the users to upgrade their current systems.

This new device is compatible with Windows and Mac systems and is available in different sizes. The price of the device may vary from $200 to $400 depending upon the size of the device.
