
Hercules has unveiled the XPS 2.150, the latest addition to its line of multimedia speakers.The system features two eight-watt compact satellite speakers and a 16-watt wooden subwoofer. The magnetically-shielded satellites feature a gloss black finish with orange driver cones and a back-lit control knob. Users can adjust the ported subwoofer separately, with bass controls and an on/off switch. The system can also output to headphones, automatically disabling the speakers when they are connected. A line-in jack is provided for an MP3 player or other device. Users can remove the speaker bases and mount use an included wall mount instead. The XPS 2.150 will be available in December, with a suggested price of $70.

The BeoSound 5 is a audio system which unlike Bang & Olufsen’s previous audio systems does not rely on CD’s for playback instead uses a integrated five hundred gigabyte hard drive. The centerpiece of the system is the controller which features a ten inch XGA LCD display with a large aluminum scroll wheel. The BeoSound 5 features a patented intelligent playlist creation system which creates playlists featuring songs the system thinks the listener would enjoy.

Maxell Japan has released the successor to the MXSP-1000 cradle speaker for all Apple’s DAP. Measuring 425mm x 75mm x 61mm and weighing 630grams, the latest MXSP-1100 is compatible with all version of iPods and iPhone. The universal speaker offers an output of 2 x 4.2Watts with a frequency response of 80Hz to 20kHz. No word on pricing at this time
