Dell Vostro 3400 Review – Laptop

Dell Vostro 3400 features the fastest Intel Core i3 processor ( at least at the time of writing), the core i3-370M. The core i3-370M is a dual core 2.40 GHz clock processor which has decent performance – much better than the earlier core 2 processors at the same frequency and better that the similarly clocked AMD’s Athlon ii processors. At the same time the core i3 processors does not has the turbo boost, found in core i5 processors. This leads to slightly reduce performance, but, still more than enough for the everyday home computing.

Dell Vostro 3400 is light – weighing just 4.56 lb making it very mobile for professionals on the run. It has a 14″ display with backlight lit by LED. The diplay resolution is 1366×768 which gives out crisp pictures.

On the down side, Dell Vostro 3400 comes with only 2 GB of memory – which seems a little bit ridiculuos since, even the lowest end notebooks today come with at least 3 GB of memory.

Dell Vostro 3400 is stylish and simple in looks and is great whether you want to use it for home or at school or work. The low power consuming core i3 power does not demand fast fans, making the laptop stay relatively peaceful. If you are mostly doing word processing, emailing watching movies and internet browsing – the notebook is perfect for you.

That being said there are couple of more things which makes freshgizmos hesitate to recommend this notebooks to the potential customers. Besides low RAM ( it is just 2 GB), it is also small in terms of hard disk capacity. Dell Dell Vostro 3400 has just 250 GB – which still good enough if you want to save thousands of picturs and word documents. You will practically never exhaust it , but ….

When you need to save a lot of videos from your video camera ( and most of the digital camera come with video shooting capability), you may find that the 250 GB is running out of space.

Dell Vostro 3400 comes with other regular things that make up a decent laptop, including, the wired and wireless internet connectivity, DVD burner, and USB 2.0 connectors. It also houses a webcam that you can use to record videos or use it for video chat.

It also has 6-cell battery that lasts long. If you are a techie and use bluetooth, you will not be dissapointed. This note nook does come with bluetooth. Normally priced at $599, this notebook had recently a rebate of $50. But we feel that you can get one with 3 GB or some possibly with 4GB in the same price range. Keep looking for more deals.

Notice that now, core i3-380M is the fastest processor and core i3-390m should be coming soon.
