Google reveals its Favorite Places plans

So Google is trying to make searching for businesses that much easier by allowing you to find “Google Favorite businesses.” These 100,00 businesses will be located across 9,000 cities in the U.S and will each get a QR bar code which can be accessed by Google phones to easily pull up info on these places.

The sticker will be placed in the front of the business and can be scanned by certain apps on certain mobile phones (we’re guessing Android, Blackberry and Windows Mobile to begin with).

Information like ratings, reviews, etc will all be available as well as possible coupons currently being offered. Currently the service is U.S only for now but Google plans to add many more business soon.

As for impressions, Google is hoping that users will find the reviews useful in finding their next place to do business with and hopefully generate better search results for its business listing service.
