Android 2.3 Gingerbread was released on Google Nexus S on 6th December, 2010. Nexus S is the first smartphone to avail the latest OS officially. Motorola Droid X is always a special one being a Motorola’s Android flagship and should receive the latest OS upgrade soon. If this is not happened soon, at least an unofficial port of Android 2.3 for the Motorola Droid X should emerge soon.
The Motorola Droid X owners that are not willing to wait for an official release of the latest OS can go with an alternative. Try the ApeX 1.3.0 FroYo ROM, which is themed with the latest Android 2.3 Gingerbread goodies. Through this a Droid X owner can avail almost all the similar features as the original Gingerbread and adds successfully user interface improvements in order to make it a match for the original latest OS.

In fact, Gingerbread ROMs are supposed to be ported from the official SDK. As this is not available currently, interested people are suggested following this procedure to have Android 2.3 Gingerbread theme over their Motorola Droid X.
