Korean 3D television broadcasts in Full HD just weeks away

Korean Communications Commission (KCC) has announced its initiative to start the 3D broadcasts in Full HD quality. The South Korean “chaebols” seems to have full support of their governemnet when it comes to delivering 3D content when compared to LG and Samsung. The licensing is expected to start from January next year and the first brodcasts will take place by mid year. The 3D content will be delivered through the terrestail networks.

CJ HelloVision has also planned to provide the same service targetting over 1000 homes by 2012.The first 3D content likely to be dilvered would be limited to cartoons and the viewers will have to buy a separate set-up-box to view the same.

The 3D VoD titles may be offered for free initially to attract the users, however, the pricing is not yet fixed.
