
The German car maker Mercedes-Benz USA in partnership with Hughes Telematics have announced a new telematics system dubbed mbrace(TM), which will provide unprecedented connectivity and customization options for drivers, improving safety, security and productivity.
This new system will allow the users to remote lock or unlock the car or locate it in a crowded parking lot by providing them access to connect to their vehicles. This mbrace is now available on all new Mercedes-Benz vehicles sold through authorized dealers in the United States and comes as a replacement for the older system Tele Aid. However, the owners using the older system can upgrade to the newer system.
According to Sascha Simon, director of advanced product planning, MBUSA, this mbrace will introduce innovative and personalized services that fit our drivers’ mobile lifestyles offering them enhanced safety, security and navigation options. The architecture will also provide flexibility o add new features and innovations.
The mbrace system offers a total of 18 features in the categories of safety & security, navigation & destination planning and convenience and can be accessed through a personalized web portal. The security features include Automatic Collision Notification, Emergency Calling, Safe Ride, Roadside Assistance Connection, Stolen Vehicle Location Assistance, Automatic Alarm Notification, Vehicle Information and Crisis Assistance. Search & Send is a navigation feature and the standard convenience features include Remote Door Unlock and Lock, Vehicle Finder, and Dealer Connect. Its premium services include features such as Location-Based Weather, Location-Based Traffic, agent-assisted Route Assistance and Point-of-Interest Destination Download.
