The Nokia N900 has finally started being shipped. The Memo based cell phone was long being awaited by the users. The Nokia CEO, Olli-Pekka Kallasvuo, told that that the handset is now on its way to the customers who had pre ordered it. “Very soon we will see if the new generation of Nokia smartphones will  be enough to generate the type of mass-market / high-margin appeal that Nokia needs at the top end of its product portfolio or if it’s just a tentative first step on a potentially wobbly new platform”, he added.

According to the Nokia’s official blog, the Maemo 5 device is expected to land in Europe, Middle East, Russia and North America shortly. These will not be compatible with the new 3G SIM cards from UK, Ireland, Sweden, Denmark and Austria. It is expected that the compatibility issue will be resolved  sometime later this year.
