Seagate FreeAgent Theater+ HD Media Player Gets Netflix Streaming

Seagate FreeAgent Theater+ HD media player was no big fish when it first arrived in September last year because we are so use to talking about LG, Sony or Samsung in relevance to this particular domain. The storage outfit is now looking a different product altogether after the announcement of its gratis firmware update.

The reason is that the same update will enable the Seagate FreeAgent Theater+ HD media player to stream Netflix as well as content from YouTube, vTuner and Mediafly. There aren’t many other competitive products in this sector which offer live content streaming from big brands and this is where Seagate will eventually benefit from.

What is more is that this player can double as a UPnP / DLNA streamer to play content stored on networked PCs and drives. This is obviously a pre-laden feature but the package appears more impressive altogether with live streaming involved in the mix. [Courtesy: HotHardware]
