There have been rumors for over a year now that Verizon is getting the iPhone. Basically Verizon was the original suggestion for the iPhone, but Big Red told Cupertino to go to hell and thus AT&T got the deal. However, as the 4G networks begin to peek out from under the wraps of the telecommunication companies, rumors are flying that an LTE version of the iPhone is heading to Verizon in the near future as well as an HSDPA equipped version for AT&T.

Well just today Qualcomm made known that its hybrid chips which will be able to run on both CDMA/EVDO and UMTS/HSPA as well as LTE support, won’t be available until sometime 2011. Basically this means that if Verizon is indeed to get the iPhone next year as planned, they would only get a CDMA version. Its all speculation of course, but it does make some sense.

This is finally seems to be truth. Verizon has reserved a large number of the iphone and verizon related website names ( check news on starredreviews), and not it is not a question of if but when.

It will be great time for Apple, Verizon and the customers.
